Viscose fabric at Aarna Weaves
Viscose, also sold as rayon, occupies a useful middle ground. It is made from cellulose, so it breathes, takes dye deeply and feels cool against the skin like a natural fibre — but it is engineered, so it is available consistently and at a price well below silk. For womenswear, resortwear and printed programmes, that combination is hard to beat.

The two things that go wrong with imported viscose are shrinkage and shade depth. Viscose moves in wet processing, so a fabric that measures correctly at the mill can arrive short or off-tolerance if finishing was rushed. We manage that with controlled finishing through processing partners we have used for years, pre-shipment shrinkage checks, and lab-dip approval on the actual quality rather than a lookalike.
For printed programmes, viscose's dye uptake is its main selling point — colours land deeper and more saturated than on polyester. We strike off on the real base cloth so what you approve is what ships.

Viscose fabric — buyer questions
Is viscose the same as rayon?
Effectively, yes. Rayon is the older generic term for regenerated cellulosic fibre; viscose is the specific process by which almost all of it is made today. In trade, buyers use the two names interchangeably, and both refer to the same fabrics on this page.
Why does viscose print better than polyester?
Because it is cellulosic, viscose absorbs reactive and pigment dyes into the fibre rather than sitting on the surface. Shades land deeper, blacks are richer and fine printed detail stays sharper — which is why printed womenswear programmes so often specify viscose.
Does viscose fabric shrink?
Viscose does move in wet processing more than polyester, which is why controlled finishing matters. We run pre-shipment shrinkage checks and can specify a finish and residual-shrinkage tolerance with your order so the fabric performs predictably in cutting and after washing.
What viscose constructions do you supply?
Plain rayon, viscose georgette, viscose crepe, viscose slub, dobby, viscose satin and viscose-blend shirting, roughly 60–160 GSM. Blends with polyester are available where extra strength or shrink control is needed.
